The Placer Breast Cancer Endowment includes breast cancer survivors and community activists committed to fully funding the Breast Cancer Endowed Chair at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The members are also determined to raise awareness regarding breast cancer prevention, early detection, and support services available during treatment.

Date Formed: 2005

Amount Raised as of January 2005: $750,000 has been raised by the Endowment since July 2005

Fundraising Goal: The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center requests that $1.5 million be donated to fully fund an endowed chair. The Placer Breast Cancer Endowment goal is to raise and present the funds to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Endowment Members: Endowment membership now numbers 120 active participants.

Nonprofit Status: The Endowment operates as a completely volunteer organization with no administrative costs associated with the fundraising activities.

Founders: Breast cancer survivors Carol Garcia, Senior Vice President of Community 1st Bank and Roseville City Councilwoman and Teri Munger, Program Manager, American River College.

Signature Events: The Endowment hosts two signature events each year. The Signe King Memorial Dinner is held each May at La Provence Restaurant in Roseville to honor former commercial real estate broker Signe King who died from breast cancer in 2006. The Annual Pink by the Pool: A Party with a Purpose and The Fountains Hot Pink 5k Fun Run are held each October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Donations: Individual donations are accepted at any time and can be mailed to PBCE, PO Box 564, Roseville, CA 95678. A receipt will be provided by the Endowment.

Nonprofit Status: The Placer Breast Cancer Endowment Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID# 27-0690037) and contributions made to the fund are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Annual Operating Budget: The Endowment operates as a volunteer organization with administrative costs only associated with financial services per federal and state guidelines for nonprofits.
